I'm in ASIA people!! Little more than a week down, little less than a week to go. I'm sitting here in a swanky hotel in Guangdong, China, and cannot possibly convey all the feelings I have about this place in the short time I have available to me at the moment. I will only say that it is surreal and amazing. Words cannot express right now. I will fill you all in upon my return. I promise. I hope the end of everyone's school semester's slash work before the holidays goes swimmingly. Miss you guys. See you whence i return. Xie Xie!

To Whom it may concern:

The first semester of school is almost over. For Timothy Johnston, classes will come to an end on December the 1st. He has no exams. How freaking awesome is that? This means he will be back on the Lower Mainland for much of the holiday season, which is one of his favourites. He like, totally LOVES Christmas music. He also just found out that he may have the opportunity to accompany his father to Hong Kong and Singapore for a week or so at the beginning of December. This is freaking amazing! This is pending the small detail that he needs to get a passport by then....crazy? YES. Impossible? Of course not. Let us please cross our fingers and keep him in our prayers.

Life for Tim in Victoria continues to be great. Schoolwork is piling up and he is actually (relatively) keeping up. Even HE is impressed. He misses the following things ALOT(in no particular order): Kaylee, singing, dancing, soccer, good friends, mom and dad, brothers, Kaylee, a fully stocked pantry, performing in front of a crowd, having a computer, Kaylee and a really full fridge. Luckily, some things he is getting used to being without(SEE: fully stocked pantry/fridge); Contrarily, some things he can and will not get used to being without(SEE: all of the other things on the list).

Sorry if I am not good at keeping in touch. We all knew I was not good at it when I lived at home, and I am trying to get better but unfortunately this is something I cannot learn in university. Bear with me.

So looking ahead: One essay left, One test, One in class presentation and One monologue that I wrote for myself that I am too afraid to perform. Come on Tim. Suck it up.

After that? Home free...literally.

One More Thing....You know in Garden State when Zach Braff talks about the feeling of not really having a home? You know...not a place to live but like a "home" home. Just that in-between state? Well, I think I'm kind of starting to understand what he was saying...it's a crazy life kids...but we'll save that for next time...

Ok! I'm here! Fear not young Jedis! My apologies to those who apparently read this voraciously but as I mentioned in my VERY FIRST BLOG....I SUCK AT THIS! SO BACK OFF!! *ahem*

aaaanyways...life is good kids. Very good. Victoria continues to be just a phenomenal place and I have of late found myself to be full of inspiration. It is good to be a student. I feel full of creative thoughts and impulses and have started writing them down...something I always meant to do but never did. It feels good.

Also, i have started to read a large amount of plays, which is cool cause I never did before. We have to read at least 10 for acting class, and its really a great assignment because she basically just wants us to become familiar with our craft, and the written word is really the seed for most great drama. Makes me want to write one...who knows..stay tuned for that one...

What else? Audition on Saturday for next season's Mainstages. I don't really care. I wouldn't mind having some free time in the spring to be able to work. So that's cool with me.

Hallowe'en next week AKA my dad's birthday. Happy birthday Pops! Also means dressing up on saturday and drinking...I don't know why we have to wait for Hallowe'en to do this...dressing up like someone or something else and drinking with friends should be a weekly occurence if you ask me. We should NOT need an excuse.

Holy Moliere!

Okay so things have been happening really fast in the last few days but I'll try to summarize!

The move went very well, my friend Adam came over with myself and Jrad to drive the truck and bring it back and help us unload. Thanks Adam, we owe you HUGE!! We are now settled and happy in our new home. Jared's bigger couch however, did not fit into the suite, so we are on the hunt for a new place to sit. The tricky thing is finding a way to transport whatever we DO find, since we're transit junkies now. Luckily there's a 2nd hand furniture store a couple blocks away so we may be able to find a solution to that conundrum soon.

Secondly, I am now a part of the Mainstage show! It's Moliere's Tartuffe, the French NeoClassical comedy, set in Modern Texas. One of the guys had appendicitis so I am his understudy just in case and am playing a small walk on part. So that's exciting! Runs October 17th-November 4th. 2nd years don't tend to get to be in the Mainstage shows so its pretty exciting. My acting teacher recommended me to the director, I think that's a good sign! This means I can't do the SATCO show I told you about before but life is full of decisions isnt it?

Anyways, Gotta run to class! Hope everyone is doing well!

Fast Times at the University of Victoria

Hey! I'm here! I'm sorry! It's hard to get any solid time on the internet when you don't have a computer of your own! I know Kim and Abby...I have nothing to complain about :P The point is..I'm alive! And enjoying life as a Vike!

Things are obviously a little strange, having to get used to taking care of myself and my own business but so far so good. Lots of friendly people and friendly profs. There's a really great atmosphere around the campus and the program has been very cool thus far. The students are responsible for ALOT in the theatre: design, acting, directing, marketing, box office and pretty much anything else you can think of. It's fantastic.

On that note...I just got cast in my first UVIC show! It's a SATCO which is the student alternative theatre company and its an original play written by one of the students. Just me and another guy in it, we both get to play several parts. Should be interesting to work on. Goes up at the end of October.

Speaking of the end of things. How about the end of sleeping on a couch?! That's right! As of this Sunday, October 1st, Jared and myself will be the proud residents of the basement suite at 3037 Carroll street, Victoria BC. HOORAY!! We're stoked to finally have a place to call home after so long a search. It's going to be great. Feel free to drop by when you're in town!

On that note, I'm off to see another SATCO show but I hope to get the update happening more often. Miss you guys!

Victorian Life

Alright Kids. This is it. The time has finally come and I am now a Victorian. It's weird. Me and Jared are out lookng for places and with any luck(yeah right what's that!?) we will find somewhere we can call home real soon! Had a "Theatre students Orientation" today. Went pretty okay, the usual kind of thing. everyone seems very friendly, can't wait to start classes! Who is this talking?! I'll update again once some more exciting things happen but I wanted everyone to know that I arrived safe and sound and am doing just fine!

Okay People. I know it's been awhile. And I know you're all going to probably throw up in your mouths a little upon reading this blog, but I need to let you all know(not that you don't already) that I am quite possibly the luckiest man alive. For those of you who saw her performance at the intensive, you will know why. Kaylee is absolutely amazing. So talented and so ambitious and enthusiastic. She loves what she's doing so much. You can see it in her eyes and her smile. She's an absolute natural. She's going to go far. If you have money...bet on it.

Sex, Drugs and Rock & Roll

So I'm in this show. And It's pretty fantastic I gotta be honest with you. Our cast is super talented and extremely cohesive. Our production team is awesome and this show is challenging me in ways I have not experienced before. At least not to this degree. I've done short scenes and such but nothing quite with this range of emotion and fantastic character development. I love my character, Warren. It just so fascinating to get into his head, to figure out why he does the kind of things he does. Mostly because he's really not like me at all. Thats what I love most about acting, the opportunity to become someone else, to act in ways you would never act in real life. That's exciting kids. That's a rush.

This is our Youth plays at the Presentation House Theatre in North Van, Wednesday-Saturday from August 16th-September 2nd. Check it out. You'll like it.

Don't expect TOO much

Okay! So here I am. I caved. I gave in to the craze. I love reading about my friends so figured I should return the favour. Problem is, whenever I start one of these things I always stop using it a couple weeks later. Don't let that happen! It'll be a good way to keep track of my progress (or lack thereof) at UVIC. And you can watch me get wise and mature (highly unlikely) right before your very eyes.

By the way, I can't take credit for this because it was definetely Kaylee's idea...
